W. G. Lambert — Assyriological Critique

W. G. Lambert (1926–2011) was one of the foremost Assyriologists of the 20^th century. He published critical editions of the Enuma Elish, Atra Hasis, and many other Mesopotamian texts.

Lambert's Criticisms

1. Sitchin's astronomical interpretation of the Enuma Elish has no textual basis
2. The epic is a theological and political document, not an astronomical one
3. Sitchin's translations of key passages are inaccurate
4. The Sumerian King List is a literary construction, not historical record
