Navigation Beacons¶
Sumerian name: IZI.GAR (πππ) β "Signal Fire / Beacon"
Zecharia Sitchin proposed that the Anunnaki established a system of navigation beacons on Earth to guide their spacecraft as they approached and landed on the planet. These beacons took the form of massive stone structures β pyramids, megalithic platforms, and aligned stone circles β that remain some of the most impressive monuments of the ancient world.
The Beacon System¶
The navigation beacon system served multiple functions:
- Identification β Identifying the landing site from orbit or high altitude
- Alignment β Providing precise directional references
- Guidance β Marking the approach path to the spaceport
- Communication β Possibly containing communication devices (the DUR.AN.KI)
The Beacons¶
The Great Pyramid (Giza)¶
The Great Pyramid was the primary beacon:
- Its original polished limestone casing made it shine like a star
- Its location at the center of Earth's landmass
- Its precise alignment to true north (within 0.05 degrees)
- Its reflective surface visible from great distances
- Its internal chambers aligned to key stars (Orion, Sirius)
The Baalbek Platform¶
The megalithic platform at Baalbek served as both launch pad and beacon:
- Its massive, flat surface was visible from above
- The huge stones (800β1,200 tons) could not have been moved by any conventional ancient technology
- The platform's orientation matches the landing corridor
The Sphinx¶
The Sphinx at Giza was the "guardian" of the beacon system:
- Oriented to the rising sun on the equinox
- Possibly built to mark the Age of Leo (c. 10,500 BCE)
- Its position guards the Giza complex
The Landing Corridor¶
The beacons formed a precise alignment:
| Landmark | Role |
|---|---|
| Ararat | Northern approach |
| Jerusalem | Mount of the Crossing (guidance) |
| Baalbek | Launch platform |
| Giza | Primary navigation beacon |
| Sinai | Spaceport landing field |
Other Possible Beacons¶
Sitchin and other researchers have suggested that many other ancient sites may have served as beacons or observation posts:
- Stonehenge β Astronomical observatory
- Tiwanaku β Andean observation post
- Carnac (France) β Megalithic alignments
- Teotihuacan β Mesoamerican complex
- Machu Picchu β Highland observation post
