Pyramids¶
Sumerian name: Γ.KUR (ππ³) β "Mountain House"
The pyramids β particularly the Great Pyramid of Giza β occupy a central place in Zecharia Sitchin's Anunnaki narrative. Sitchin rejected the conventional view that the Egyptian pyramids were tombs for pharaohs. Instead, he argued they were part of a sophisticated navigation and communication system built by or with the guidance of the Anunnaki.
The Great Pyramid of Giza¶
| Measurement | Value |
|---|---|
| Original height | 146.6 m (481 ft) |
| Base length | 230.4 m (756 ft) |
| Slope angle | 51Β° 50' 35" |
| Casing stones | 144,000 (originally) |
| Estimated weight | 5.9 million tons |
| Alignment to true north | Within 0.05 degrees |
Sitchin's Interpretation¶
Not a Tomb¶
"No pharaoh was ever found buried in the Great Pyramid. It was not a tomb β it was a beacon, a navigational instrument, and a source of power."
A Navigation Beacon¶
The Great Pyramid's polished limestone casing made it shine like a star, serving as:
- A reference point for spacecraft approaching the Sinai spaceport
- A marker at the intersection of Earth's longest landmass lines
- A geodetic marker encoding the Earth's dimensions
A Power Plant¶
While Sitchin focused primarily on the pyramid's navigational function, he acknowledged that the pyramid's structure β with its conductive granite and non-conductive limestone layers β could have functioned as an energy device.
The Pyramid's Internal Chambers¶
Sitchin interpreted the internal chambers as:
- The King's Chamber β Not a burial chamber but a control room; the so-called "sarcophagus" was a device
- The Queen's Chamber β A power generation chamber
- The Subterranean Chamber β An unfinished or alternate purpose room
- The Grand Gallery β A resonance or acoustic amplification hall
- The Shafts β Not air shafts but alignment tubes pointing to Orion and Sirius
The Orion Correlation¶
Sitchin endorsed the Orion Correlation Theory proposed by Robert Bauval, which argues that the three main Giza pyramids are arranged on the ground to mirror the stars of Orion's Belt, and that this alignment dates the complex to approximately 10,500 BCE.
Other Pyramids¶
| Pyramid | Location | Anunnaki Significance |
|---|---|---|
| Step Pyramid (Djoser) | Saqqara | Early Egyptian pyramid, possible proto-beacon |
| Pyramid of Khafre | Giza | Second Giza pyramid, part of beacon system |
| Pyramid of Menkaure | Giza | Third Giza pyramid, part of beacon system |
| Ziggurats | Mesopotamia | The original pyramid form β stepped temples |
